multi-disciplinary + passionate

I am currently a User Experience Design intern at Anthro-Tech, a user-centered design consultancy focused on agencies with a social impact mission. I am also about to earn my Master’s in Human-Centered Design & Engineering at the University of Washington (in June 2015). Lastly, I’m currently the president of the HCDE Graduate Student Association, which has been a blast to help grow and be a part of for the last year.

Before entering the field of user experience, I was a Mechanical Engineer. In that role, I studied the interactions between components, such as between the o-ring and its metal container, and determined possible failures and the risks involved. As a user experience professional, I take this same systematic approach. Except now I analyze the interactions between people; their environment, abilities, and culture; and technology. It is this broader perspective that I am extremely passionate about.

During the last two years of my education, I have been a TA for the Master’s in Human-Computer Interaction + Design prototyping course, a User Research intern for the Amazon Business-to-Business retail group, and an Interaction Design intern at Physio-Control, a medical device company. Outside of work, I love to travel, bike around, do yoga, drink beer and sing/write music.

I am currently looking for a full-time position to begin in October of 2015.
